Since its inception in 1965, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong made great impacts in the continuing education sector of the territory. The School offers lifelong learning opportunities to aspiring learners through a variety of new programmes that address the dynamic needs of the society. This autumn, the School introduces four new Higher Diploma programmes, namely Applied Korean Language and Culture, Chinese, Health Products Management, and Professional Accounting respectively, to cater to the diverse interests of secondary school graduates or people aged 21 or above. To help more Higher Diploma graduates in their pursuit of degree studies, a new Griffith University Top-up Degree programme, namely Bachelor of Design, will also be launched.
To fulfill your needs for personal growth and professional advancement, the School offers a comprehensive collection of programmes that span across six disciplines: Art, Music & the Humanities, Business & Management, Information Technology & Science, Languages & Translation, Social Sciences & Public Administration, and Traditional Chinese Medicine & Health Care. This autumn also sees a range of new courses for you to choose from. To name a few, "Innovated Learning Series" aims to help management and marketing professionals to improve their communication and presentation skills. "Diploma Programme in Creative Advertising in Multimedia" and "Diploma Programme in Web 2.0 Programming and Database Development" are tailor-made for design and information technology professionals. Teachers and youth workers may be interested in "Training of 'Student Ambassador Troop' Trainers" or "Youth and Student Counselling" while parents may consider "Introduction to Digital Parenting" or "Excelling Your and Your Child's Potential ¡V Energy Psychology".
In face of the current challenges brought by the financial tsunami, the School endeavours to help Hong Kong people stay optimistic and positive. A series of new courses aiming to improve soft skills are introduced to enhance one's ability to overcome adversity. For instance, "Elementary Life Coach Training", "Using the Dance & Movement to Promote the Mental Health" and "WSET Wine Course" help to improve your mental and physical health and enrich your lives, while "Effective People Skills and Team Building" and "Great Thinkers' Approach to Negotiation" are designed to strengthen your interpersonal skills.
To enrich students' learning experience, the School is committed to forging closer collaborations with local and overseas education institutions. One of the examples is the launch of "Professional Diploma Programme in Legal Executive Studies", a new programme jointly offered by the School and the Institute of Legal Executives of England and Wales this September. In addition, the School collaborates with the Employees Retraining Board to offer a new programme entitled "Diploma Programme in Chinese Proprietary Medicine Sales Strategy", which helps the unemployed to build up their competitiveness in the Chinese Proprietary Medicine retail industry.
Looking forward, the School will continue to uphold the mission of providing quality continuing professional education to meet the learning needs of the public. Through broadening the scope of continuing education, we strive to make further contributions to the economic development of Hong Kong.
